Tip of the Day: Muscle = pump = feeling. What?? So, when I first began weight training, my boyfriend was always telling me, “feel the movement,” which I had absolutely no clue how to do. For me, it was very difficult to feel my muscle stimulating because 1) I was using baby weight and 2) I had very little muscle mass to begin with. If this is sounding familiar to you, have no fear; continue focusing on these weight training movements, and over the course of time and building up lean muscle, weight training will start to feel more natural and muscle contractions will become more achievable. I often use that phrase – “feel the movement” – to prevent simply going through the motions: mind muscle connection.
