Tip of the Day: Twist your way through the Monday blues – literally! I know Mondays can be rough; after a weekend of fun and ((hopefully)) some relaxation, it’s a process to get back into the groove of a work/school week. If you’re someone who is in a desk or chair during a work day or if you’re someone who struggles with tension headaches or back pain, this tip is for you! Spinal twists, such as the one pictured below are yoga poses that provide several overall health benefits to serve you on this Monday!
Modern living (ie: sitting at a desk all day or in a car for too long) can cause our abdominal muscles to tighten and shorten, loosing flexibility. This can equate to back pain, tension headaches, and poor posture. A simple spinal twist for a few minutes just once a day or a few times per day can help alleviate pain and pressure in the back by restoring circulation.
On a deeper level, it is though that when we are in a state of health, energy that our body would have otherwise been allocating towards fighting off diseases can go toward higher endeavors. A simple spinal twist can massage inner muscles and organs, causing them to push out toxins, allowing for fresh oxygen and nutrients to flow in.
