TIP OF THE DAY: Do you have a personal trainer; are you getting the most out of this experience? They say not to judge a book by its cover, but when it comes to trainers, I think their appearance is a strong indicator of the services they provide. What I mean by this is if you’re looking to get fit and shed fat, choose a trainer with the look you are attempting to achieve. While the best coaches are not necessarily the best athletes, a quality trainer should be one who practices what he or she preaches. A common mistake is that individuals select the “nice” and “friendly” trainers without assessing other variables. Your trainer is not your hairdresser – your appointments should not be spent chit chatting and catching up, which is something I see far too often; if you’ve found yourself in this position, you may want to reassess needing a trainer. This leads to the question of are trainers necessary. My personal opinion on trainers is that they are a great place to start; once you become more acquainted with the gym and exercises, you should be ready to venture out on your own. Also, since trainers provide a paid service, budgeting the money you spend on health and fitness is another variable to consider.
Do you know of a good place to find videos of these exercises? I'm very new to anything other than the elliptical and would love to start doing workouts like these! Please & Thanks!
