As summer break comes to a close, many of us are finding ourselves with more focus for the gym and our healthy lifestyle in general. These are the times the LG community makes such a difference. MEET AMY: How did you get started with your health and fitness journey?
I would have to say about 10 years ago after the birth of my 1st daughter. I focused on home cardio workouts but within a few years I started lifting with my husband! Such a game changer for how I felt about myself. I ran a few half marathons but my love will always be for weight lifting! I found awesome “fitness Barbie” 😘 workouts on Pinterest/your blog which really helped me focus on lifting as well.
What about weight training specifically do you love?
I love how empowered it makes me feel. I love feeling strong and being able push myself to see what I’m capable of.
We all seem to “struggle” a bit more with eating well and working out on the weekends. Any tips that work for you?
I find if I do my weekly grocery shopping on Fridays and meal prep on Saturdays that the house is stocked with good choices! We also focus on family dinners over the weekend which are almost always at home.
I go in phases based on my kiddos but my girls know that my gym time is so important. They either join me, I worked before they get up or we all go out to the gym intown. Having a home gym as definitely been amazing with small children. My husband joins us on the weekends which is our “date time”. We make it work! How has the LG Accountability Community played a role in your success?
The LG community is amazing and I started a “fitness account” about 8 month postpartum because I needed some help! I love the constant motivation and love from everyone. It’s contagious! I have made some life long friends that make my life so much more fulfilling.
What advice would you share with a fellow LG Sister looking to get healthier and happier?
I honestly believe that in fitness or life, getting healthier/happier starts with your mindset. I’ve been 200lbs and I’ve been 110lbs. It’s about embracing the hard stuff, remembering you are strong enough and that change takes time!
