ConfidenceKini Body Tip of the Day: How is your attitude of gratitude? I love the Buddhist take on gratitude as states there is no need to create or change anything in order to feel grateful, but instead simply being aware of what is already here provides us more than enough to be thankful for. I especially love that perspective on gratitude because as health and fitness enthusiasts, we are very goal oriented. We set a goal of losing a certain amount of pounds by a particular date and we carry out plans to achieve that. That is great, but we can get so focused on the future and it’s then easy to slip into the mindset of, “when I lose those 10 pounds, I’ll be happy and thankful for my body.” But gratitude doesn’t work like that. There is always something to be grateful for. So you want to lose 10 pounds…be grateful that you have healthy, functioning legs that can carry you through your workout or the means to afford a gym membership and food or the sunshine that shines down upon you as you run outside. Studies (like this one)
have shown that grateful people tend to be happier, healthier, less
stressed and more satisfied with their lives and relationships. At the end of the day, isn’t that what we’re all after?!
