MY LIFESTYLE JOURNAL: FALL FAVORITES

I’m a total summer/sunshine girl, but there’s just something about fall! Here are a few of my favorite things fall has to offer.

{ FASHION }
Fall is definitely my favorite season to dress for, especially when it comes to footwear. These are my fall must-haves. Because mine are from my closet, I found ones that are currently available – both steals and splurges.

(1) Classic ballet flats

(2) Laced up heels

(3) Booties

(4) Riding boots

Fall nail polish colors are a girly girl’s must! These are my all time favorite fall shades from left to right: William Tell Me About OPI, Over the Taupe, No Spain No Gain, Conquistadorable, Merino Cool, Sew Psyched

{ HOME DECOR}

The smell of fall completely transforms my home! I am obsessed with two things in particular: cinnamon brooms and candles!

I first found cinnamon brooms at Trader Joes. They can be dressed up with ribbon, leaves, monograms, etc. and hung on a door instead of a wreath. Here are some great ideas for inspiration! The fragrance is unreal! Candles are also a great way to warm up the home during fall – bountiful by Yankee Candle is my current favorite!

As you know, I’m pretty obsessed with having fresh flowers around my home! It brings life to the place and can always put a smile on my face. I love the rich colors of fall blooms.

{ FOOD }
And then there’s the food! To me, fall food is all about something I can cozy up with on the couch. In the morning that looks like a smoothie or chai tea with added seasoning, such as pumpkin pie spice or cinnamon. Try this simple fall breakfast smoothie: 1 banana, 1 scoop vanilla protein, a few taps of pumpkin pie seasoning, a handful of ice and a cup of unsweetened almond milk – blended.
In the evening, I crave a warm soup. I’m super hesitant when it comes to soup – there are a few good ones out there, but my favorite is my personal homemade healthy chicken noodle soup recipe – you can find the recipe here

I hope you all are off to a wonderful start to your fall season!
XO,
Lauren

    Hey Lauren. I have a very basic question, and I'm sorry if you've already answered this and I just wasn't paying attention! I was just wondering if you do some form of cardio every day as a warm up before weight training? I love to weight train and run, so I'm trying to find the perfect balance. If you do not run every day, how often do you run/elliptical/stair climber/etc?? Thanks!

      Hi Erika,
      No need to apologies…I'm happy to answer any and all questions! That's a really good one! I've personally found (through my own experience and a lot of research), that the "best" warm ups are those that reflect the workout. So, for instance, if you're working out arms, begin with very light weight dumbbells and perform a few sets of bicep curls, kickbacks, shoulder presses, etc. I typically like to add in 3-ish warm up sets. On leg day, I do like to walk on the treadmill for a few minutes!

      Like you, I loveee a nice-paced run or walk and I like to lift 4x per week, 1 day of HIIT cardio & abs, then on the weekend, I will enjoy these walks/runs. Do as you please because the best plan is one you enjoy….the results will come!

      Hope this helps!

      XO,
      Lauren

    Lauren, I completely agree with your 'nerd status' — Neuro was the coolest class ever!

      Hi Stephanie,
      OMG….I'm so happy I have fellow nerds who love science. I loved the psychology tie ins; I think if I went back and did it all over again, I would have double majored in psych or did it as a mini. So interesting!!

      Have a wonderful week!!

      XO,
      Lauren

    I don't know why, but every time I try wearing a pair of Tory Burch flats, I always feel pretty ridiculous. Why can everyone else pull it off except me?! 🙁
