Anyone else feeling a little fluffier after the holiday?! I intentionally allow myself a little more of a relaxed schedule on occasion. The mental and physical break from a strict schedule always leaves me feeling a little more peaceful and stronger. Still, I love my normal routine and it’s fun for me to jump back into it!
Fitness Barbie Gym Style:
Tops: Lululemon
Tip of the Day: Reflect! Reflecting is one of my favorite ways to (surprisingly) move forward. When I reflect on the past, I am able to gain a bird’s eyes perspective of what I did well, what I can improve on, and how I plan to move forward. I encourage you to do so for the entire year of 2013. For me, it took quite some time, but I felt so amazing after and was ready to set major goals for 2014.
2013 was undoubtedly the best year of my entire life! Not surprisingly, it was the first year I began goal setting, visualizing the life I wanted to create, and going after my wildest dreams! I am so grateful for the amazing people I met, places I went, and things I accomplished.
My 2013 highlights:
(1) After 4 long years of nonstop studying and pushing myself beyond my limits, I graduated Summa Cum Laude with a Bachelors of Science in Biology.
(2) I discovered Starbucks teas after years of boycotting the company lol! My drinks of choice: china green tips hot green tea & half passion/half green unsweetened iced tea with added liquid lemon or vanilla stevia. Eat clean & DRINK clean!
(3) I took my yoga practice to another dimension that changed my life! I originally was attracted to yoga as a form of exercise and to help restore flexibility to my overly-weight-trained muscles. However, working on the meditative elements have shifted my once chaotic life to the most peaceful, positive, and grateful place.
(4) I moved to Texas! After spending 22 long & cold years in Wisconsin, I decided to jump across the country and relocate my life. It’s probably been one of the best decisions I’ve made thus far.

(5) I looked for a part-time job to keep me busy and ended up working for Lululemon, a company that so closely aligns with my philosophy on life. The store is a little slice of heaven to me – the people & the energy bring so much happiness into my life!

(6) I turned my blog into a business & celebrated Fitness Barbie’s 1st birthday! It’s unreal to me how much my little blog has grown in such a short period of time. My heart overflows with happiness and joy from what I’ve created out of it and I am so grateful for the opportunities to connect with you all on a global basis.
(7) I made my first big girl purchase: a car! I’m not materialistic; I don’t believe things bring happiness, but I am proud of the independence I’ve given myself at a young age.
(8) I was accepted into dental school! Probably one of my most feared goals because accomplishing it leads to a difficult, yet very rewarding road ahead.
2013 has been the most fulfilling, happiesst, and most life-changing year of my life. I am so excited to see what I make of 2014 & I wish you all another year filled with health, happiness & love! I can’t wait to achieve greatness together next year!

Girl, I started out as a biology major and quickly changed it to human physiology after I was visiting my tutor DAILY for homework that included genetics boxes and altruism! I have a HUGE, HUGE, HUGE respect for you! Being able to finish with honors with a bachelor's degree AND finding the time to work out and eat healthy, takes so much hard work and dedication, my hat goes off to you. And not even mentioning the fact that you GOT INTO DENTAL SCHOOL! Non-medical individuals do NOT realize how hard that is!! I've been following your blog and instagram account for a while now – You really are such a great inspiration and roll model! Good luck with dental school!! The hard work will definitely pay off! Cheers to your amazing year!

Hi Lauren, I found your blog on Pinterest and got hooked right away! Then realized that you are from Wisconsin and moved to Texas. I just did the same trip a month ago to Austin, and I'm also 23. How ironic?

Thank you for posting your work outs and advice. I will definitely be revisiting the site.

    Best of luck in 2014!

    -Chloe
