Legs & Glutes – 10/21

Legs:
-10 min walking (warm up)
-Leg press
-Smith maching dead lifts
     superset with smith machine lunges
-Back squats
-Leg extensions

Glutes:
-Reverse hyperextensions
-Alternating step ups
     superset with long jumps

Tip of the Day: Switch up the stance! The leg press stance that is 🙂 I’m all about variations, and one of the switch ups I love is the foot placement on the leg press. Here are four of my favorites, from left to right then top to bottom: 1) narrow stance to target the quads 2) high and wide to target the glutes and inner thighs 3) shoulder width, middle of the plate to target quads, hamstrings, and glutes 4) single leg middle of the plate to better isolate one leg at a time. In the downloadable workout version, I typically specify which one of these stances I use for the particular workouts; I vary based on which leg muscle I want the leg press exercise to target most since the movement is a compound movement, but can be varied to place more emphasis on one particular muscle group!
