Cardio & Abs Circuit – 8/3

Cardio (treadmill):
-3min walking (warm up)
-20min HIIT
     1min sprint
     2min inclined walking backwards (5.0 incline, 3.0 speed)
     ….repeat
-3min walking (cool down)

Abs Circuit:
-hanging straight legged leg lifts (pictured)
-mountain climbers
-rest 30sec
-hanging oblique crunches (pictured)
-bicycle
-rest 90sec
x3-4

TIP OF THE DAY: As many of you know, I rarely train abs. In fact, I dislike training abs. You may have heard sayings like “abs are made in the kitchen” or “70% diet, 30% gym.” I most identify and relate to the quote “abs are made in the gym, but revealed in the kitchen.” I hear a lot of ladies say that they can feel their abs, but cannot see them. Darn stubborn belly fat! But that is exactly the problem! While crunches and other abdominal exercises will in fact help build ab muscles, the reveal is made by decreasing body fat (something that ab exercises cannot achieve). Definitely give those abdominal a work in the gym, but keep in mind the best training will be done in the kitchen with clean eating!
