Legs – 1/23

Legs:
-weighted barbell squats
-leg extensions
     -superset with leg curls
-dumbbell walking lunges
-stiff legged barbell deadlifts
-leg press (medium stance)

TIP OF THE DAY: On a leg day, it is always important to find a good pace. Too fast and your leg workouts will become very cardiovascular and may inhibit your strength. Too slow and you may not be working to your potential and allowing your heart rate to drop too much. A good pace is one with a moderate amount of rest – just enough to recover but not enough to get too comfortable. I suggest moving right from one movement into another and using the time it takes to transition & set up as a rest. Allow some real rest between sets!

A little bit of AM cardio & an evening lift. Pumped up booty with this workout – I’m thinking about writing tips/workouts on how to build the backside. I was not born with a booty, but I am so proud with the muscular one I’ve built! Don’t give up ladies – if you don’t have the backside you want – work for it 🙂

I’ve been receiving a lot of very sweet feedback regarding my posts on things other than just fitness – the “barbie” side of FitnessBarbie. As someone who is a big believer in the importance of balance, I think throwing in a few posts on things other than just health & fitness is a great idea! Katie (instagram @katieggym) suggested I do more fashion posts with tags of where to find the clothing I wear. I will try to do this for many of my outfit pics. Contrary to what most think, I’m not constantly buying new clothing – my wardrobe is a bottomless pit, so I always have a great selection to choose from. With that said, many of the things I wear probably aren’t still available to purchase, so I will try to find similar items at reasonable prices!
