About Me

Hey there! Thanks for stopping by!
While you’re here, I would love to share a bit about myself.
My name is Lauren and I’m 26 years old.
I have a huge passion for health and fitness.
I began working out regularly when I was 15.
I definitely began my journey as a cardio bunny…
…mostly because I didn’t know how to navigate the weight room lol.

Then, I met Anthony, my now fiancé & we’ve been together for 8 years.
We both worked in the health & fitness industry for 5 years.
…I can thank him getting me hooked on the gym!

Now, I live for weight training!

I found physical strength translates into inner strength
& it helps me feel unstoppable in and out of the gym!

I believe in using health and fitness as a stepping stone for boosting
self-love, confidence, and overall happiness.

I know it works because it improved my life in so many ways!

Through healthy living, I discovered my true self
and found the courage and confidence to go for my dreams!

In August 2014, I gave up my seat in a DDS program to go for my dream of
inspiring and empowering others to look better, feel better & lead lives they absolutely love!

Now, I combine my educational background (Bachelors of Science in Biology)
with my 6 years experience in the health & fitness industry to help others.

I specialize in helping my girls achieve fit & lean bodies
while ultimately boosting their self-love, confidence & overall happiness!

Here’s how I help others reach their goals:
(1) Workout plans that are the perfect combination of challenging yet empowering
so that you feel accomplished & ready to take on the day

(( find the one that fits your goals, here ))

(2) A science-based nutrition approach that is maintainable, easy to follow with simple recipes/ingredients and geared towards seeing physical results.

This is where I’m super passionate because so many of us feel controlled by cravings
and don’t feel our “healthy eating” pays off physically.

My nutrition guide has been a game-changer for myself & other women
in letting go of food-related stress & struggles & seeing supercharged results!

(( get those guidelines, 100s of recipes + a lifetime membership here))

(3) An online accountability community of inspiring women, helping each other follow through
#LGAccountabity (Instagram) – join us for no cost…simply start using the hashtag!

So here’s to all of us “going for it”
…going for a body & life we l-o-v-e

I’m so glad we found each other, and I cannot wait to be a part of your journey!

Hi girl!! I love your blog! I follow you on IG too! I am really looking to get into lifting. Right now I do both running and lifting and its not really working out! I was wondering how long your workouts usually are? And how much cardio I should do? Thanks so much!

      January 24, 2014 at 5:46 AM

      Hey!

Thanks for the support and the nice comments 🙂

My workouts are usually right around 45 minutes (weight training and cardio)
Also, cardio amounts really depend on person to person and how they react to it. Some people can get away with doing very little and others need a lot more. Personally, I like to do cardio 3-4 days a week. I switch it up between HIIT and steady state cardio to keep my body guessing!

      XOXO,
      Lauren

There was a post on your blog and I can't seem to find it now. I tried the search field but to no avail. You posted a workout rotation and mentioned to always stick to it so if you had to skip a day, you would just go to the next body part in the rotation. Does that ring a bell at all? Can you point me to that post or let me know what the rotation is? I thought there were 5 strength days, 1 cardio + abs day and one rest day… or maybe it was 4 strength, 2 cardio + abs, and one rest day…

    • Fitness Barbie
      August 18, 2013 at 6:58 PM

I think I know what you may have in mind. I believe this was regarding my workout "split" which is basically just my rotation of muscle groups. I use what I call a rolling rotation, so I don't make Monday legs just in case I don't get to the gym on Monday, then I would just pick up with legs on Tue.

I no longer use this split, but this may be what you were thinking??

I currently do not offer personal online training/meal plans; instead, I do my dollar a day program where you can download expanded versions of the free workouts I share and they include training tips. My weekly meal plans for $3 are a great place to look as well!

Can i just ask how tall you are? Do you think it is possible to get as long and lean with a very short frame?

    • Fitness Barbie
      August 26, 2013 at 12:31 PM

Absolutely – I'm 5'7'' but height is by no means a limiting factor on leanness; body fat can be decreased to the same point on two different individuals (short or tall)!

Hi. I just started following your blog and tried downloading a meal plan. I saved it to my desktop but every time I tried to look at it, I had to download it again. Hi, my name is Tricia and I just came across your blog. I must say that I am highly impressed with your physical fitness at your age. I know age has nothing to do with it but most 22 yr old girls do not have the amazing muscle content that you do. I read your blog and see you began working out when you were 15 yrs old and I know it takes years to build muscle. So good for you for starting so young and sticking with it!

I have a couple of questions for you.. or anyone who sees this post really. I was wondering how you put so much variation into your workouts? . Like one day is chest and triceps and the next is back and biceps and the next is legs. How often is it ok to substitute in circuits? I am more of a cardio person and using my own body weight so I feel more apt to do that then actually weight train but I am trying to start getting into weight training and I wasn't sure what was appropriate.

how much do you charge for personal workout plans? I am very active but recently I have been slipping and not finding that motivation. A recent visit to my doctor showed my sodium is high again and all the bad stuff is borderling at the max and my proteins, and such are pretty low. I have a bad metabolism so i gain weight fairly easily. What can I do and do you do personal help?

    Hey Lauren,

I have a question – I bought your meal plan and work out log.

    1) does the meal plan and work outs change every week?
    2) do you do cardio after every weight lifting session if its not included in the day?

    thanks

  • Fitness Barbie
    January 24, 2014 at 6:16 AM

    Hey Jonelle!

Yes, the meal plans and workouts both change every week. Very rarely will I ever repeat a recipe on my meal plans and same with the workouts. I believe in switching it up and keeping everything new and refreshing!

Personally, I do cardio 3-4 days a week for 20-30 minutes a time. Usually it is post workout but on my day off from weight lifting I will always fit one of the cardio workouts in. I hope this helps and thanks so much for the support girl!

I bought this week's menu plan and am soooo excited to try it. I love your blog…very inspiring and helpful. I'd love to know what you think of weight loss products like herbalife or advocare….do you see any merit to them? I lost 30lbs last year by making exercise a priority, but I still have about 65 to go. I know food is what's going to make the difference. Do you think some supplement would help, or just rely on healthy eating?

I just stumbled upon your blog last night! I am so inspired. You look incredible and I am striving for a similar physique. I am a runner, just like you. I am having a hard time though switching out too much running for also incorporating weight training. I saw a previous comment that your work outs are around 45 minutes including both cardio and weight training. I wasn't sure if you had a weekly schedule that would show what type of cardio and weights you will do for that day and the amount of cardio in advance? I would love to start creating a schedule for myself. I participate in a class called "Body Pump" twice a week and I try to do some weights after I finish my cardio, but it is always hard without a schedule. Anyway, sorry for the long post!

I just found your blog and read through it, and I really like it! I had a couple questions though. I saw that you're really big on cardio. I have been doing cross-fit since the last week in March, and I know that it takes awhile to see results. I have never been bad at eating decent but have recently gotten into real healthy eating. I have seen results when it comes to toning and shaping muscle, but I am worried I might not be doing enough to actually lose fat. I do cross-fit 5-6 times a week. I get my heart rate up for at least 30 minutes a day, but we use weights pretty much every day. Do you think the cross-fit and healthy eating will help me lose what I want to lose or should I add more cardio?

Hey i cam across your blog on bloglovin.com and I think that your blog is amazing! I'm a seventeen year old girl from Holland and I want to add weight training in my 'at home'routine because 'toning'of pilates workouts is not enough anymore for the stubborn lower belly fat.

I also do kettlebell workouts with a 8 kg kettlebell and I was wondering if this is a good for fat loss and muscle building?
Can a get a good workout with two adjustable weights of 5 – 10 kg each? I don't have a good gym near me so I have to buy weights and they are pretty expensive in Holland.

Keep up the good work! Your blog is the most detailed on this area i've ever seen!

I absolutely adore your blog! I've kind of become a fitness freak these last 25 days before Christmas 🙂 but am having trouble with how exactly to eat healthy. I've heard that you should eat like 6 meals a day, but is that true? I don't really want to follow a meal plan, but was wondering what your thoughts were on what to and what not to eat. Any suggestions?
    Thanks

Ive been following your blog and I am so excited to start the 30 day 30 min challenge- I purchased today 🙂
I wanted to ask, do you have a section/ebook with your AB workouts? Your abs are killer but I can't find anything pertaining to only that. Thank for being such an inspiration 🙂

Just found you and joined you! I'm kind of a "Barbie girl" too 🙂 I'm looking to define more muscles and shred what is on my body that I don't need. I'm so excited about this journey!!!

I do believe all of the ideas you've offered to your post. They are very convincing and will definitely work. Nonetheless, the posts are too short for newbies. May you please lengthen them a little from next time? Thank you for the post.
