The ONE Thing that Makes Healthy Eating "Easy" For Me

If you’re not familiar with the start of my health and fitness journey, I’ll give you a quick summary… my initial approach was to workout so that I could eat whatever. I went to the gym daily but didn’t change the way I was eating; I saw some changes in my body but nothing like what I was hoping for. I then switched my nutrition approach to low and little everything…. low fat, low calories, as little food as possible; again, I saw some changes but no where near the results I wanted. I spent years in this cycle and it felt like a lot of work.
When I was in college, I started understanding about how the body worked and more importantly, how food and our bodies worked together. During this time, I created a nutrition system (which I kept to myself for several years) that allowed me to eat what I enjoyed but have it work for me instead of against me, knowing what my body needs to reach the goals I desired: fit and lean.

Fast forward six or so years, and I’ve been able to maintain that same weight, making even more improvements, such as getting stronger and more physically fit.
HOW??
Ask any woman and you’ll probably hear the same thing… working out is the easy part. I can squeeze in an hour for my workout but eating well the other 23 hours is where the challenge is.
I’ve been there, which is what brings me to the reason for this post… there is one thing (seriously, ONE thing) I do that makes healthy eating “easy” for me and I want to share to help you feel the same.

What’s that one thing?
I lighten up my favorites.

What I mean is that all my favorite foods from pizza to creamy casseroles and fried buffalo chicken, I find a way to make healthy.
Now, there’s no set, solid standard for what is healthy and what isn’t. That’s a line we have to create for ourselves. To me, healthy constitutes a food or style of cooking that is beneficial (or at least neutral) for the body is some way or form.
The key here is that I don’t eat standard healthy foods. You won’t catch me eating chicken, broccoli and brown rice for dinner. You just won’t.
Instead, you’ll see me making a pizza casserole or buffalo chicken pasta salad. Both can contain ingredients that are beneficial for our bodies, but for me, one is fulfilling and delicious while the other is boring and will leave me with cravings shortly after I’m done eating.

Are you trying to eat healthy foods just because they’re healthy? Or are you putting effort into making your favorite meals lighter?
It seems simple and easy but this is where so many women get stuck. It’s also the best feedback I receive about the LG Meal Plan… the recipes are simple ingredients, easy to make and the meals are enjoyed by the entire family! You don’t feel like you’re doing the typical “healthy eating” but your results say otherwise.
I’m sharing this because I want you to consider thinking this way when you make your meals. Not only will you see great results, but you’ll enjoy the process.
And if you need a little help, get ready because the brand new Meal Plan Cookbook update is coming to you verrrrry soon and it’s based along this approach… lighten up your very favorite meals for healthy eating that comes easy!
