When and how did you first begin your health and fitness journey?
I was always active in high school, I played anything from soccer, basketball and track. Things started to really change in 2012, when I finished college and moved to the U.S. Fitness was no longer a priority of mine anymore. My husband would always ask me what some of my hobbies were but I honestly couldn’t give him a clear answer. I liked photography but I never really had a real passion for anything. About 2.5 years ago while being on vacation in Australia, I gained some extra weight and became very self conscious; I loathed the person I had become. I remember standing in front the mirror and deciding that I was going to take charge and do something about it. I started off doing Zumba for a year and then progressed into running. That was when my passion for fitness and running really became an outlet for me. I started off running 1 mile and then gradually increased my distance. Before I knew it I was able to run between 3-6 miles and I felt on top of the world!
Last year was a huge turning point for me, I decided that I wanted to focus on weight training to become strong and lean. I started off doing my own program for a while until one of my friends suggested that I join the LG community.  For the past six months I have been officially hooked, it has been an incredible journey learning to push myself to my limits while focusing on building muscle.
What’s been the greatest result  from this lifestyle change?
I have finally found a passion for health and fitness and now when my husband asks me what my hobbies are, I can honestly tell him “Gym” … It is basically my second home now. I feel stronger, more confident and comfortable in my own skin.
How do you manage to get in your workout and healthy meals on a daily basis?
In terms of fitness, I drive myself straight to the gym after work. This has been a great routine for me, plus it’s always nice to release any stress from the day – there’s nothing like running it out and lifting weights.
In terms of nutrition, I dedicate every Sunday for meal preparation – it takes me roughly 2-3 hours. I usually begin by writing out a weekly menu from the LG Meal Plan and decide what I am going to make following those guidelines. I like to make a couple of dishes but will alternate each day so I don’t get bored. I find that meal preparation keeps me on track and deters me from making bad food choices. Don’t get me wrong, I’m not perfect and will still choose pizza over a salad but I am learning to balance and eat in moderation.
What is your go-to healthy dinner?
I’m obsessed with the Philly Cheese Steak Stuffed Peppers, Chicken Cordon Bleu and Chunky Chicken Noodle Soup from the LG Meal Plan.  I also like to make a flat bread pizza and load it with vegetables and chicken.
How has the LG community played  role in your journey?
The LG Community is such a huge part of my life. It is an amazing feeling to be part of a community who have similar goals and interests to myself. These women are constantly supporting, motivating and inspiring me every single day to work and push harder. I gain so much motivation from them and have made so many new friends. #LGSisters for life.
Do you have any advice for a fellow LG Sister looking to make a healthier change?
Every day is a new beginning and a chance for a fresh start. Trust me, I have fallen off the bandwagon many times but as long as you keep trying and don’t give up,  you can do it! Lauren and the LG Sisters will always be there to cheer you on.
