Tip of the Day: Hello, Tasty Tuesday! It’s one of my favorite days of the week here on LG.com & today I want to share all about veggies! This week’s recipe is Orange Tomato & Fresh Oregano Salsa, which is not only delicious paired with chips or chicken, but it provides benefits well beyond the completion of the meal because it’s all VEGGIES! Vegetables are an addition to a meal that sometimes get overlooked, but hopefully after reading today’s tip, you’ll want to include a serving with your next meal!

3 Reasons For You & Your Waistline to Love Veggies:
(1) BUH-BYE CRAVINGS: Vegetables are packed full of fiber, keeping you fuller longer! Just a tip: if you look at a nutrition label, fiber actually falls under a carbohydrate. I like to take the total carbohydrates minus the fiber to serve as a more accurate reading of the carbohydrate content. Starchy vegetables like corn and carrots do, however, have quite a bit of non-fiber carbs, so you may want to put those items in your carbohydrate section of your LG Meal Plan food plate 🙂
(2) STEADY ENERGY: As health enthusiasts, many of us lead active lifestyles; we are here, there, and everywhere, and we rely on our healthy choices to provide us with energy to last all day long. We can count on vegetables for help with that! Thanks again to that fiber, vegetables help stabilize our blood sugar levels, contributing to energy throughout the day ((this is why I especially love veggies at meal 3 to beat the afternoon slump))
(3) MORE GOOD = LESS BAD: In the Guilt Free Food Guide, one of the principles I love the most is “addition over subtraction.” It’s so simple and because of it’s simplicity, it works! The more we focus on putting on our plate food items that are good for us, the less room we leave for the stuff that isn’t. Addition over subtraction is a mindset…there are so many positive, healthy things can we add to our lives and there’s no need to even worry about removing a thing!

Do it with me…for meal 3, let’s commit to enjoying together the Creamy Green Protein Smoothie ((recipe in Eat Your Way Lean – page 41)) to get in our veggies!
