MY LIFESTYLE JOURNAL: "I'LL GO ANYWHERE WITH YOU" TEX-CONSIN

“Just as long as I’m where you’re at, I’m gonna have a real good view.
I’ll go anywhere…anywhere with you.”
If you’ve been with me for awhile, you know that I’m originally from Wisconsin. When I was in college, my dad took a job in Texas, and the rest of my family followed. After graduation, I too moved down to Texas as well as Anthony who took a job there.
Moving seems to be an increasingly normal part of life these days, but it wasn’t for me when I grew up. My parents built our family home when I was about 5 years old, and that’s where I lived until I went off to college. In general, I would have consider myself a very “safe” person; if I could take a path that avoided risks, 9x out of 10, I would take it despite where that path was headed. Bottom line…for most of my life, I lived in a complete comfort zone!
However, within the past 3 years, I’ve called 5 different places my home, which has been so out of my comfort zone that I can’t even put it into words. In general, the transition from college and being under your parents’ wings to the real world and venturing out on your own is a kick out of your comfort zone…add in moving across the country and my personal resistance to change, and you can bet in these past 3 years, I feel like I’ve grown more than in the previous 21 years!
I read this article ((it’s a good read – check it out)) on why staying is settling and why you need to move at least 5 times in your life, and it really put things in perspective for me!
Moving, for me, has been one of the best experiences in finding myself and my purpose. As someone who loved security and comfort, moving has forced me to get comfortable with being uncomfortable and to grab a quote from the article, “it’s only when we’re uncomfortable that we are growing and learning.”
I don’t think we make it enough of a priority to focus on our personal growth. We’re so focus on what we want to do and what we want to have that we forget about who we want to be.

My life of constant adventure and change is consistently helping me discover and become the person I want to be! I realized I was living in the same place, doing the same thing, and with the same people because I wanted to feel comfortable. I was merely living in this life instead of living the life I was capable of. I’ve found to live…like really live involves constant change and growth.
So…TEX-CONSIN…
Well, as Anthony and I look forward to what our future holds, we’ve been looking at where the next stage of our life will take place. We recently began house hunting, and because we both work from home, the location of our future home really is limitless!
Anthony and I feel so strongly about all of the above points I mentioned: from our love of adventure/being mobile to our desire to keep growing and becoming the best we can be. We decided that instead of purchasing one home, we would split our budget in half and buy two homes in two different places, splitting our time between the two.
As Anthony and I try to figure out exactly where we want to be, we’ve decided to spend the next year renting in locations we would considering purchasing a home.
As of right now, we’re thinking we will be Tex-Consins, spending half the year in Texas and the other half in Wisconsin.
Texas has a special place of our hearts as well as being the place where my immediate family lives; every time, I step outside, I feel as though opportunity is in the air when I’m down here. Wisconsin also houses the majority of our family and friends; in Wisconsin, the pace of life is different and the quaintness of the Midwest brings a lot of peace. As of right now, it seems to be the best of both worlds!
There’s a Jake Owen song, “Anywhere With You”
that perfectly sums up my feelings on this lifestyle decision.
As always, I love sharing my personal life with you all as I truly consider you to be an extension of my circle of friends, and I’m deeply grateful for all the support and well wishes you share with me whenever I make a big change in my life. It means the world to me!
Anthony and I will begin the first phase of our move to Wisconsin in one week…I will keep you all posted! I guess I shouldn’t have tossed out all those down jackets when I moved 😉
Until next time!
