I thought this #FlashbackFriday picture was appropriate for today. This picture was taken about 3 years ago; it’s a testament to how much change and growth I made when I began focusing on how I can better myself from the inside out and when I let go of competition with peers!
Gym Style Details:

Tip of the Day: “If you continuously compete with others, you become bitter, but if you continuously compete with yourself, you become better.”
It’s easy to get caught up with being better than somebody else; it’s basic human nature dating back to Darwin’s the survival of the fittest to feel as though we must be “better.” However, our survival no longer depends on being the fastest, strongest, smartest, prettiest, etc. In fact, these tendencies seem to lead to a lack of fulfillment, insecurity, and overall bitterness.
I know what you’re thinking… easier said than done, right!? How can we better implement this?! I find it beneficial to keep journals…a personal journal and a training journal. I incorporated a training journal with some personal elements in my latest 30×30 Fat Loss Shred Ebook and the response has confirmed what I found to be true for myself.
It’s 10-15 minutes out of the day entirely focused on YOU! Plus, it helps us focus more on bettering ourselves than worrying about petty competition (ie: asking your girlfriend sarcastically, “so, did you work out today” – hoping she asks you the same and you can reply YES) hehe.
Training Journal:
Log your workout. Log your meals. Log any outside activity (ie: walking the dog, running in the backyard with your kids or young cousins). Log your energy levels. Log your sleep from the prior night. It’s fun to look back and notice patterns and progression.
Personal Journal:
There’s no restrictions here…write down what comes to your mind. Putting your thoughts, fears, hopes, and dreams in ink is very powerful. I’ve found that it’s freed me of resentments and inspired me to do and be more!
