Tip of the Day: MOTIVATION MONDAY! Do more of what makes you happy! This week, I challenge you to do more of what makes you happy. As you know, I don’t do much cardio – I like to keep my weight training workouts cardiovascular intense by implementing circuits, such as today’s workout; occasionally, I enjoy long walks – through the park with Anthony, on the treadmill with some good tunes playing, etc. I’ve shared a lot of information on here regarding the benefits of HIIT over steady state cardio, but I’ll leave it at this…I don’t take long walks for fat burning benefits. I take walks because they make me happy.
How about doing more of what we want to do and less of what we should do. Yes, of course, we all have obligations – I’m not suggesting we just abandon our jobs, skip class, or stop taking care of the kids. Instead, try incorporating at least one thing that makes you happy each day. If you love a kickboxing class…GO! If you’ve been wanting to try the new juice bar, but it’s a bit pricy…splurge once this week! If you’re craving some girl time…make time for it after work one night! 
I’m creating a note on my iPhone titled “do more of what makes you happy” and logging the one thing I go out of my way to do each day to bring a bigger smile to my face. Try it out with me. Happiness yields greater happiness. Who would shy away from that?!
