Took this guy along for the “body weight pyramid cardio” ride today…I love when I can kick my macho man’s butt 😉 Who am I kidding….I was huffing and puffing too!

Tip of the Day: Happy September 1st! I cannot believe summer has come and gone. If you’re anything like me, your motivation is high in the spring and summertime as bikinis, tank tops, and summer dresses are making their way into the front positions of our closets. On the contrary, when we break out the over-sized sweaters and puffy coats, the added gym incentive seems to slip away. 
How can we stay motivated during this time of the year?
Your progress will thrive in any season if you make a habit out of this…goal setting! The first of the month is the perfect time for this as the timing symbolizes a fresh start and new beginnings. Set two types of goals: weekly goals and a monthly goal. 
Begin with the monthly goal. Complete the following sentence, “By October first I will ___(fill in the blank)___.” Examples: I will fit into my size 6 jeans, I will be able to run 3 miles without taking breaks, I will be able to squat X pounds. That is the umbrella goal. Next, set 4 weekly goals that will bring you closer and closer to that umbrella goal each day. If your goal is to fit into a certain sized clothing item, your weekly goals may look like this…
Week 1: I stop eating fast food
Week 2: I work out 5 days per week
Week 3: I finish each work out with 15 minutes of cardio
Week 4: I eliminate processed food items from my diet
I will bet you that if you goal set using the above guidelines, stick to it, and most importantly believe you will achieve, you will! Give it a try for just one month! Make September YOURS!
