yesterday, I couldn’t help but notice the amount of choices. Olive oil is such an integral part of my cooking regimen as I’m sure it is many of yours as well. Choices are a great thing, except when there are so many that they become overwhelming; I even dislike when a restaurant menu is so extensive because I cannot select an item without doubt. So, there are a few things I suggest looking for when olive oil shopping. First off, quality matters! Olive oil is a source of healthy fats, so you want to look for an olive oil that adheres to health standards. 1) Extra virgin olive oil – indicates an acidity of less than 1% (the lower, the better and also the tastier). 2) Check for the region where the olives were grown and harvested (not just packaged); the more information on the origin, the better 3) Steer clear of plastic bottles as the oil can absorb harmful substances found in the plastic; light speeds up the breakdown of oils, so look for tinted glass or tins.
