Slowly but surely my motivation is picking up after being in a bit of a slump. My advice to you all when you lack motivation – do ONLY things that you love. For instance, I love workout out outside in the sun, so I would purposely plan my day around getting in a little walk or run in the afternoon. I also grocery shopped for the healthy food I absolutely love, but don’t always get. When you’re doing what you love, you’re setting yourself up for greater success.

Tip of the Day: Don’t do it just because it’s healthy and do eat it just because it’s healthy if you don’t love it yourself. I want to expand off my earlier thoughts because I recently received an email saying, “Lauren, I tried to eat asparagus again, but just don’t like it.” Guess what – asparagus isn’t my favorite vegetable either! There are certain things that coaches, trainers, and fitness personalities promote as healthy, but that does not mean they’re the only healthy food items or the only way to workout. For instance, a fitness motivator I follow always is posting about tilapia, asparagus, and brown rice; that meal doesn’t excite me, so I don’t eat it. Know what you love. Take advice with a grain of salt. For instance, in this case, tilapia represents a lean protein option, the asparagus a nutrient-packed vegetable, the brown rice a complex carb. So, I would create a meal of lean ground chicken, sauteed peppers and spinach, on top of a brown rice tortilla with salt free Mexican-inspired seasoning and some lime juice for a yummy taco!
