Tip of the Day: Get creative, especially when it comes to cardio! I will admit that, as a self-proclaimed cardio bunny, I do like to stick to the treadmill; for me it’s safe because I know I will have a good workout on it 95% of the time. However, I’ve recently been experimenting with alternatives and finding them exhilarating and fun (yes – cardio as fun)! Throw away the idea that cardio must be done on a machine and throw away the idea that cardio even has to be done in a gym. Keep in mind, cardiovascular training involves an elevated heart rate for a sustained period of time, so with that as a definition the possibilities are really endless. For example, I recently received a mini fitness trampoline as a birthday gift; I’ve had to be carried off of it because I enjoy it so much (and it’s killer cardio). Whether it’s a dance party with your kids, playing DDR, running around with your dog….get creative when it comes to the cardio you do!
Your abs look amazing! And I agree with you on cardio creativity. I can only run steady-state on a treadmill for so long before it gets super boring.
