My favorite delt exercise will forever be a shoulder press. There are so many variations to this exercise – seated vs standing, dumbbell vs barbell, simple form adjustments! A shoulder press is a compound movement, meaning it works all three heads of the deltoid muscle. I always begin the movement using lighter weight and with each set increase to a more challenging weight.

Tip of the Day: Begin a gratitude
journal. This began as a homework assignment back in my Catholic grade
school days and has transformed into a nightly ritual that has
positively impacted my perspective on my daily life. There are no rules
for keeping a gratitude journal – do as you please. I like to write down
a few things I’m thankful for each night that corresponded to the day,
maybe a quote or goal as well. There’s something to be said about
putting your thoughts of thankfulness into ink. I find myself counting
my blessings much more often without even realizing it. It’s the month
of thanksgiving and were in a program of building a happier, healthier
you – give this a try!

Eat Clean to Get Lean: A wonderful presentation of meal #4 on this week’s Fitness Barbie meal plan part of the 8 Week Extravaganza. Don’t think that healthy eating means you have to let go of delicious food; it’s all about finding ways to clean up unhealthy versions of a nutrition recipe.

QUESTION OF THE DAY: What’s your favorite yummy meal to clean up?

Tacos!! I will make taos and just use bib lettuce or iceberg instead of a tortilla. Then for my toppings I stick to salsa!

Oh I like tacos! Our most recent "clean" meals have been combinations of different burgers. Chickpea burgers, Sweet Potato and Quinoa burgers and Shrimp burgers…The sweet potato one was amaze-balls! For topping, instead of something bad like mayo(!), we are using Plain Greek Yogurt mixed with Sriracha – aka Fancy Sauce. The burger can be eaten by itself or on a salad and it's to DIE for.

Kind of off topic – but do you workout with your iphone? Where do you keep it? I have the new nano with a clip which is so awesome – but sometimes I want Pandora but I have nowhere to put my phone and I refuse to stick it in my bra.

i use the jaybird headphones that bluetooth connect wirelessly to my iPhone. it has quite a long range. i can put it and my water bottle in a window and go halfway across the gym before i'm out of range.

I also keep a positivity journal! Every night I have started writing 3 things that were positive about the day-its a great idea!
