My November Gym Bag

Check out what’s in my bag this month…

(1) New Gym Bag
I’m loving my new Lululemon “Carry me Om Tote” for
the gym. I always look for gym bags with lots of compartments!
Compartments = organizations. I find ones that have a space for extra
hairbands, bobby pins, a place to put dirty laundry separate from my
other stuff, a water bottle compartment, place to store my yoga mat,
etc. A new bag always gets me excited about my gym routine. Still, you
don’t need to buy a brand new bag to achieve this feeling; I like the
term “old new” – find a bag you haven’t used in quite some time or swap
bags with a friend.

(2) Shaker Bottle
I always
carry an extra shaker bottle in my gym bag in case I’m on the go and
forget one for the gym. I prefer these shaker bottles, such as Blender
bottle brand (can be found at Walmart now) or alternative brands as
mixing supplements becomes a very easy task as compared to other water
bottles. I always try to pick ones that are a little bit different than
most, so that I’m not mixing mine up with others at the gym. I’ve always
thought about adding some cool sharpie designs to mine – anyone ever
tried something like that?!

(3) Wrist Straps
Wrist
straps are a must for those serious about pushing themselves with
weight training! Wrist straps serve a different purpose and function
than weight lifting gloves; wrist straps essentially take your forearm
muscles out of the exercise, forcing the workload onto the muscle you
are targeting. Speaking from experience, when I go for a heavy deadlift,
I have more trouble gripping onto the bar for an extended period of
time than I do lifting that actual weight. Still, be careful not to
overuse these. I only use wrist straps on heavy sets (ie: lat pull
downs, rows, deadlifts, etc.) and use my traditional grip for most
others.

(4) Travel Size Toiletries
I keep travel
size toiletries in my bag because I typically run a few quick errands
after my workout, but don’t always want to shower at the gym. I carry
travel size face wash in my bag so that I can at least clean my face and
wash my hands before I leave the gym. Pictured at travel sized
Dermalogica face wash products. If you bring face wash, don’t forget a
towel too 😉
