TIP OF THE DAY: Walking versus running intensity. I’m sure after reading today’s cardio workout, some of you may be wondering if the inclined fast paced walk or the jog is the “burst” interval of the workout. Take note of your heart rate during this workout. A fast paced, high inlined walk gets my heart rate going – you will be surprised! Therefore, the walk should serve as your high intensity interval, followed by the recovery jog. Instead of focusing so much on how high your heart rate gets, be sure this interval workout has peaks and valleys, meaning make sure your heart rate increases for a period then lowers during the recovery period. Feel free to rest/walk during the 2min recovery.

Eat Clean to Get Lean: added kale to my juice today! However, it didn’t yield me much juice. I am such a research lover, so instead of my trial and error tactic, I may start researching more about juicing. If you’re a fellow juice addict, feel free to leave your tips/comments below!
I hope you are all enjoying some sunshine this holiday week! Major heat waves across the US. Unfortunately, in Wisconsin, we’re still in the 70s for high temps 🙁 I cannot wait to move to the south!

For the intervals, did you do 1 minute at 15+ incline then 1 minute at 4+, proceeding to the jog portion with 1 minute at 0 and 1 minute at 5-6? I just wasn't sure if I understood it correctly! Thanks! 🙂

For the first 2 min interval I walked at 4.0+ and on a 15%+ incline for the full 2 minutes, then for the second 2 min interval, I jogged at 5.0-6.0 on no incline for a full 2 min and repeated.

I have been mystified by the idea of juicing kale also. I have Breville Juicer – so first I just put the kale in there first and it mostly just spun it around and most of the leafy parts were stuck around the mechanisms and yielded very little to no juice. So I read that putting it in with something moist would be the best way to juice it, so I put in a cucumber and the kale, which gave me more juice, but I couldn't tell how much of which was really just cucumber. I haven't seen any other tips and I'm mystified by juiced kale, so keep us updated on anything you find that works. Maybe a masticating juicer (like for wheat grass) would be best for something dry-ish like kale? I don't know.

I will definitely keep you updated! My friend has a masticating juicer and juicing kale often, which works for her! I have an inexpensive one, which may be the issue. I will let you know if I find something that works 🙂

I know I'm late to this post but the reason greens sometimes don't yield as much juice as you would like is because of the kind of juicer you are using. If you have a centrifugal juicer then it's really good at juicing quickly but doesn't get out the juice of greens well. If that's your goal, then having a masticating juicer will make a huge difference. I used to have a Breville, which was fast, but I ended up getting an Omegaand I love juicing so much more now. I don't feel like I'm wasting the food since it dies an amazing job getting out all juices. You'll see the difference in the pulp too. It'll be dry. Hope this helps!
