Cardio Day & Abs – (Day 20) – 5/3

Cardio & Abs
Cardio (treadmill):
-3 min walking (warm up)
     -25min HIIT
1min inclined walking (10.0 minimum incline)
30sec inclined sprint (sprint will be at a lower speed than normal)
     30-60sec complete rest
     ….repeat
-3min walking (cool down

Abs (weighted):
-choose 3 ab traditional ab movements of your choice & hold a 10lb medicine ball, kettle ball, dumbbell, etc. as you complete (examples of traditional ab movements: decline sit ups, sit ups on ball, etc.)

TIP OF THE DAY: Can you relate to this scenerio? You’ve been eating healthy & working out pretty consistently, but the fat isn’t coming off as quickly as you had hoped. You have a big event, vacation, etc. coming up, so you opt for extra cardio and as little food as possible. BAD BAD BAD choice! Unlike what many lead you to believe, weight/fat loss is not just a math equation of calories in versus calories out; that idea doesn’t take into consideration the factor between input and ouput: your metabolism. Ensuring your metabolism is as healthy as possible is the one most important thing you can do to promote fat/weight loss or to prevent fat/weight gain. When you miss meals, you’re not supplying your metabolism with anything to metabolize, so it begins to slow down as there is no need to expend energy. The next time you eat (most likely more than you normally would because you missed meals), your metabolism will grab onto & store as much of that as possible in fear of another starvation; likewise, because it’s working slower, it will not be able to metabolize and burn off those calories =weight/fat gain. NEVER use skipping meals as a short term fix; it doesn’t work and will severely destroy the health of your metabolism.

AM cardio: feeling leaner every day 🙂
Ab check 😉
The
best ab exercise you can do is to walk away from the junk food; I train
my abs 2x per week maximum & some weeks don’t even do them at all.
Abs are a product of what you eat while the shape of your body comes
from how you train; both are essential pieces of the puzzle!

This is great. Loving the advice, thanks a ton!

I was wondering what you think of store bought fruit or veggie smoothies (from booster juice etc.)? I find it hard to eat clean while travelling for long periods and I am very confused as to whether or not these are healthy.

    Thanks!

      Hi there,
I understand your dilemma – I have the same issue! Without seeing the nutrition label I can't give you a definite answer. However, this is what I look for:

-ingredients (are there a lot? =bad do you know all of the ingredients =good or are there things you can't pronounce or have never herd of? =bad =chemical =junk)

-sugar (the main reason I stay away from fruit/veggie smoothies is the ridiculously high amount of sugar/carbs; to ensure it's all natural & comes from the fruit, I juice & make my own smoothies)

Still, when your in a pinch, EAT! I think going catabolic from not eating is worse than eating something that is a little more unhealthy. I also recommend ordering food off of the menu with specifying how you want food cooked, etc.

      Hope this helps 🙂

Thank you for the reply! Definitely helps 🙂 it's usually the high sugar content that makes it confusing, because even if the ingredients are all natural, it's usually a ton of sugar. I also just watched your travel video and it also helped.

Thanks for everything! I'm following the program and it's great! I also wanted to let you know I really appreciate you responding to questions in a very non-judgemental and helpful way. I haven't found many blogs out there that stress the importance that every body is unique and reacts differently to change. It's very refreshing 🙂 so thank you!!
