Cardio Day – 4/12

Cardio Day:
Today I took a workout from my Bikini Body Series (link to original post below). With my new split, I feel like I’m really working myself, so in order to give my legs proper recover, I’m hitting the elliptical more for a little less impact! I’m the first to joke about ellipticals being “easy,” but you can make them challenging by pushing yourself!

Bikini Body Treadmill or Elliptical Workout:
-5min warm up (walking or slow pace on elliptical)
 -25min HIIT
     1min “jogging” on a high incline
     1min “sprinting” on moderate incline
     1min “walking” on a low incline
     …repeat
-5min cool down (walking or slow pace on elliptical)

NOTE: Jogging, sprinting, and walking are terms for both eliptical and
treadmill. For an elliptical workout, jogging = medium pace, sprinting =
fast pace, walking = slow pace.

TIP OF THE DAY: For me Friday night usually means a treat meal. I LOVE treat meals for several reasons: some are obvious (yum yum yum, tasy food), but the effects they have on your fat burning process, glycogen replacements, and metabolism are more beneficial than you may think. When you’re following a meal plan, you body becomes more adjusted that that amount of calories/macros, as well as the food you’re feeding yourself. A treat meal enables you to “confuse” your body, providing excess calories/carbs and forcing your metabolism to jump into overdrive! Still, treat meals do not necessarily have to be unhealthy. In fact, I love what I call “clean cheat” – food options that are still somewhat healthy, but not part of my daily meal plan.

This grey sweatshirt (a $2 childrens size large gift from my boyfriend) is undeniably becoming my favorite sweatshirt & official cardio day gear. It’s the little things in life 🙂
