Cardio – 2/2

Cardio (Treadmill):
-5min walking (warm-up)
-30 min jogging (5.5-6.0)
-10min HIIT
     1min sprint
     45sec walking
-5min walking (cool down)

*I’m trying to alternate between HIIT cardio and a longer, steady cardio session on my cardio only days. I love both doing HIIT style cardio and the benefits of it, but since I do not take a complete rest day, my body needs a less intense cardio day once a week!

TIP OF THE DAY: Recovery heart rate! What is it? Heart rate recovery is a measurement of how quickly your heart rate recovers or falls after intense exercise. Doctors use recovery heart rate tests as an indication of individuals suffering from heart problems. A healthier heart or more physically fit individual, will have a heart rate that returns to its normal beat quicker, while a heart that is less healthy requires more time to recover after something such as intense exercise. I don’t want to provide specific numbers to indicate if your heart is healthy or not (if you’re really interested or concerned, you could consult your physician regarding a stress test); I like to just test it myself, which HIIT cardio is a great indicator of. Near the latter portion of a HIIT workout, just note how long your heart takes to recover! Also, take note of this as you work your way through your fitness journey; I bet your recovery heart rate will become quicker with an increase in training!

So it was supposed to be a lighter cardio day, but I couldn’t help but throw 10min of HIIT in there 😉 This girl is addicted to sprints!

Hi Natalie! Thank you so much. To be honest, I don't follow many blogs. Not because there aren't other great ones out there (there totally are), but mainly because I just have enough spare time to fit in my blog lol. I would be happy to share some of my favorite "fitspirations" and their Facebook pages!
