4 THINGS TO TAKE YOUR TRAINING & DIET TO THE NEXT LEVEL

4 THINGS TO
TAKE YOUR TRAINING & DIET TO THE NEXT LEVEL:
1. WATER WATER WATER
Every morning I fill a gallon of water and use that to
refill my individual sized bottle as I go throughout the day. This allows me to
monitor my daily water intake, which I try to keep at a gallon or just a little
bit under. Water is crucial in keeping our bodies hydrated, fighting off hunger
cravings caused by dehydration, and keeping our metabolism going!
2. PREPARATION
Once a week, I prepare my meals for the next several days. I
pick a day when I have a few hours, typically Saturday or Sunday and I cook all
my chicken, turkey burgers, sweet potato fries, etc. For me, the hardest part
about staying on top of my diet is when I do not have clean food available and
ready to eat; don’t let that be when you cheat! Planning out and preparing your
meals will help keep you on track with your diet and prevent snacking in
between meals.
3. MEAL MONITORING
I keep a food journal to keep track of everything I intake
over the course of a day. This can be useful in ensuring you are not taking in
too many or too few calories per day; I also monitor my fats, carbs, sodium,
and protein. Counting out exactly 16 almonds may seem silly, but it pays off! I
see far too many people thinking eating just an apple for a meal or skipping
lunch is healthy; regular, healthy meals will keep your metabolism up and
prevent blood sugar spikes. Also, keep in mind 100 calories of potato chips is
not the same as 100 calories coming from chicken or a sweet potato; making good
food choices is key!
4. SLEEP
It is far too common in college to stay up studying or
finishing papers late at night. However, sleep is essential in muscle growth
and mental alertness. Getting a solid 8 hours of sleep per night will allow for
proper muscle recovery; I need sleep in order to be fully focused in my next
day’s workout. ALRI’s Comatose & Lean Dreams are excellent sleep aids; both
provide relaxation support, serving as healthy alternative to commonly used and
highly addictive sleep aids.

you intake, and sleep!
